We are very proud of our Council members! This is an impressive group so stay tuned as we provide a closer look when they are in the news! Congratulations!
David Martin, Executive Director of the Georgia Council on Economic Education, is the recipient of two distinguished awards. The Atlanta Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals has named David its Be Haas Lifetime Achievement Award winner. The American Diabetes Assn. has named him its Father of the Year and will formally honor him next June. David quipped, "At my age, I think I should be the Grandfather of the Year!" The Georgia Partnership congratulates David and is honored to have his continuing support through his service on the Council.
Council member Angela Hurtado and husband David Araya are two dynamic young people. While still in high school they started a non-profit (see below) that is doing good every day. Atlanta Journal-Constitution reporter Gracie Bond Staples profiled them in her Life With Gracie column (September 15).

Teacher Council Member is Example for Georgia Teachers
Council member Lourie Owens, the behavior interventionist and POI coordinator at Mattie Lively Elementary School in Statesboro, could easily be called the "poster child" representing Georgia's great teachers. Why? Check out this video for the answer. We salute Lourie - as well as her colleagues across the state - for her commitment and dedication to her students! She was a 4th grade teacher when this interview was taped.
