The Partnership has again teamed with the Georgia School Boards Association to present a series of Education Policy Forums designed to inform local school board and state legislative candidates about education in Georgia. The half-day workshop was presented in 2002, 2004 and 2006 election years. Eleven sessions were conducted this year across the state. For more information visit the Home Page.
The presentations traditionaly are a big success. One Georgia House member and a candidate for re-election in 2004 said, "After spending this afternoon in this Forum, I realized there were many more things I needed to know about education in Georgia. The speakers provided meaningful input to my job as a legislator. I'm even more excited about the possibilities of improvement in producing better teachers and students in Georgia schools."
As a part of the program, an education primer was developed for each of the attendees to keep as a reference as they address future issues. After the election in 2004, the Partnership provided a primer to each member of the new legislature when it convened in January 2005. A copy was also provided to each member of the state school board. One of the board members said, "What an extraordinary reference your 2004 Education Policy Primer is. It's first class and most useful. As always, the Partnership is out ahead." The 2007 Legislature will again receive the books.
