The University of Georgia has announced that Dr. Art Dunning will be leaving his position as Vice President for Public Service and Outreach to accept a similar position with the University of Alabama System.  Dr. Dunning was the first Executive Director of the Georgia Partnership for Excellence in Education and one of its founders.  We are grateful for his service to the Partnership and wish him well in his new endeavor.

The Kiwanis Club of Atlanta named Mr. Heys their Volunteer Fund Raiser of the Year.  He was recognized with other award winners at the organization's National Philanthropy Day Awards Luncheon last fall at the Georgia Aquarium.

Business to Business Magazine highlighted the work of ARCHE (Atlanta Regional Council for Higher Education) as it "continues to be a critical marketing advantage for Atlanta."  Michael and ARCHE were story subjects in the publication's July-August 2009 edition.  Here's the story.

The state Commissioner of Labor and Georgia Partnership Board member sounds off on the importance of education to our state's workforce and prosperity.  Writing in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Thurmond offers three examples where increased funding will pay huge dividends.  Here's the article.

The Georgia Partnership's former Chair and president and CEO of RL Brown and Associates was featured in the Dublin Courier Hearld, his hometown newspaper, as one of 50 African-Americans who have made a difference in Georgia and throughout the nation.

Georgia Trend Magazine named Ms. Russell,  president, AT&T Georgia, as one of its four "Power Women 2009" - "Four outstanding Georgia women who are leaders in community service, business, economic development and education." The article said this about her, "In nearly 16 years with AT&T Georgia, Sylvia Russell has advanced to president of the company. 'The face of AT&T in our state,' she represents the company's interests in Georgia, including corporate citizenship, a potential challenge in these tough economic times." Here's the article.

The Partnership's Vice Chair and Georgia Power CEO was named Georgia Trend Magazine's "2009 Most Respected Business Leader."  The article headlined, "... Mike Garrett is championing a nuclear renaissance, scoring points for his company and working to unite two Georgias."  Here is the article.
